Bodycam Village Map: Zombies Return in V0.9

Village returns to Bodycam's zombie rotation in the v0.9 update with spawn and behavior reworks — and it loses its crossbow secret exclusivity. Confirmed facts and history.

Village is one of Bodycam's most recognizable zombie maps, and the v0.9 "The Dead & Damned" update (November 13, 2026) brings it back to the zombie rotation after an absence, with a round of fixes aimed directly at community complaints.

This page covers the confirmed v0.9 changes and the map's zombie-mode history. Post-launch strategy (routes, hold spots, wave flow after the rework) will be added once the update is playable.

Confirmed V0.9 Changes

From the developer's official Steam announcement (October 30, 2026):

  • Village returns to Zombies alongside Asylum.
  • The developers "went back over" both maps to fix reported issues, especially spawn points and zombie behavior — the two most common complaints from the map's earlier zombie era.
  • The crossbow secret is no longer the crossbow's gate: the weapon moves to the standard equipment set in v0.9, ending Village's exclusive hold on it.

Why the Spawn and Behavior Fixes Matter

In zombie mode, a map lives or dies on two systems:

  • Spawn points — where zombies appear each wave. Bad spawns produce zombies materializing behind defenders or piling into one lane, which made earlier Village runs feel inconsistent. The rework targets exactly this.
  • Zombie behavior — pathing, target selection, and aggression. The announcement groups this with spawns as the focus of the polish pass, so expect AI to push lanes more predictably after v0.9.

Because both systems changed, old Village strategies (wave-10 elevator timing, hold positions, kite routes) may shift. Treat pre-v0.9 guides as historical reference rather than current doctrine — including our own Asylum guide, which carries the same caveat.

Village's Place in the V0.9 Zombie Line-Up

The zombie rotation after November 13:

  1. Zombie Trenches — brand-new mode on the Trenches map (the update's headline).
  2. Village — returning, reworked spawns/AI.
  3. Asylum — returning, reworked spawns/AI.

The official announcement does not specify whether the three maps rotate automatically or are selectable; that detail lands with launch-day patch notes.

What to Watch After Launch

  • The new spawn layout: which areas zombies pour from in early waves
  • Behavior changes: how zombies path through the village interior vs. open lanes
  • Whether the Village secret still exists (and what it rewards now that the crossbow is standard)
  • Co-op specifics: player count and difficulty settings per rotation

Once in-game verification is possible, this page gets first-hand route and defense strategies — tested, not theorized.
