Bodycam 0.9 Release Date and Update Overview

Bodycam version 0.9 titled The Dead & Damned releases on Friday, November 13, bringing zombie modes, map reworks, and anti-cheat.

Reissad Studio has officially announced that the upcoming bodycam 0.9 release date is set for Friday, November 13. Titled "The Dead & Damned," this update focuses heavily on bringing back the game's zombie modes alongside significant multiplayer improvements, security upgrades, and new loadout options.

What to Expect in Version 0.9

While a major portion of the development team continues working on long-term projects for Bodycam, version 0.9 serves as a focused, in-between update designed to deliver fresh content and technical enhancements. The update centers primarily on expanding cooperative gameplay experiences and refining existing maps.

The Return of Zombies and New Zombie Trenches

Zombies take center stage in this patch. Reissad Studio selected Friday the 13th as the ideal thematic launch window to reintroduce the undead.

  • Zombie Trenches: A brand-new game mode built specifically on the Trenches map.
  • Returning Maps: Both the Village and Asylum maps return to the Zombies rotation. Developers conducted a comprehensive polish pass, addressing community feedback regarding spawn points and zombie behavioral patterns.
  • Co-op Support: The Zombies mode supports cooperative play for up to four players, allowing friends to deploy together easily.

Public Pool Rework

The Public Pool map has received significant attention. Following the "Locked & Loaded" update, it remained the least-played map in the rotation. To address this, the development team implemented a full visual overhaul to match the visual fidelity standards targeted across the rest of Bodycam, accompanied by layout improvements designed to enhance flow and combat encounters.

Easy Anti-Cheat Integration

Multiplayer security receives a major upgrade with the integration of Easy Anti-Cheat. This addition aims to curb malicious activity and stabilize the competitive environment. Developers have stated they will closely monitor its performance post-launch and continue rolling out improvements.

Lobby and Loadout Additions

Players will find new areas to explore and fresh hardware to utilize upon downloading the update.

  • Drone and RC Car Room: The lobby expands with its largest room to date, featuring dedicated circuits for drones and remote-controlled cars. The RC car mechanics and driving controls have been completely overhauled for better handling and enjoyment.
  • Crossbow: Previously restricted as a reward found at the end of the Village secret, the crossbow is now officially added to standard loadouts for use across PvP maps.
  • TEC-9: This introduction marks the first machine pistol available for players to equip as a secondary weapon.

Party System Status and Current Workarounds

One notable omission from the version 0.9 update is the official party system. Reissad Studio confirmed that the feature will not be present, noting that ongoing technical blockers and a comprehensive rewrite of the game's multiplayer layer pushed back its release. Developers chose to delay the feature rather than introduce technical debt to core matchmaking systems.

In the interim, multiplayer matchmaking operates under specific parameters:

  • Zombies functions as a 4-player co-op mode.
  • Quick Play and the Server Browser remain restricted to solo queueing.
  • Players wishing to play with larger groups can host custom games supporting up to 10 players.

The development team continues to prioritize the multiplayer layer rework and aims to release an experimental version to players as soon as it is stable.
